Frauke-Katrin Kandale received her Magister-degree in Southeast Asian Studies and Sinology. For her PhD, she was affiliated to the Berlin Graduate School Muslim Cultures and Societies and conducted ethnographic fieldwork in Penang, West-Malaysia. Her PhD thesis examines religious conversion in the context of an islamizing society.
